Diverse Learning Environments

Infants & Toddlers

Our program for infants sets the pace around the needs and unique differences of each child. The provider centers their day on the schedules of those for whom they care.

Routines are the curriculum for an infant’s day. Every moment offers opportunities for learning. Caregivers are very aware that infants developmentally need to explore their world. This takes place by offering experiences that consist of all senses. This includes crawling, being held, stroller rides, outdoor play, climbing and rocking.

  • We follow a service plan for infants that are provided by the parents so that we can meet each specialize need.

  • We look at the environment from the child’s view and we know that they need a cozy, inviting and stimulating place to grow.

  • We are aware of proper sanitation measures and we follow them consistently and conscientiously.

Diaper changing, feeding and other routines are viewed as vital times for communication, self-discovery and socializing. We are early childhood educators that see ourselves as professionals.

Routine gives the infant/toddler a sense of security. The infant/toddler learns to trust repetition and the lack of change. The child may not think about these routines but does FEEL the security of familiar activities.

Young infants will not be on a schedule rather they will sleep and eat on demand. There is music and singing, reading and visuals, floor time, outside time and always words to explain what activity is taking place next.

Early Preschool,
Preschool & Pre-K

A preschooler’s typical day may vary day-to-day depending on special events or activities planned, the age of the children or the weather.

When the children arrive Quiet Activities are offered such as coloring, play dough, puzzles, lego's and other self-directed activities this helps children to start their day on a calming note.   Children serve themselves.  Breakfast consists of cereal with milk and toast. This is a breakfast of convenience.

Our preschool is where the children will share experiences, hear wonderful stories (throughout the day), investigate ongoing topics and concepts through project work, they have art time, work with manipulatives, enjoy music and instruments, have circle time, use the dramatic play center, play outside and have meals together.  Enrichment activities included in the program are  weekly Italian lessons and music appreciation lessons.

During Rest Time: Teachers pat backs and soft music is played throughout rest.

During the Afternoon: A variety of indoor and outdoor activities including games, art, table activities and stories are offered. Some art may be coordinated around certain topics or concepts. Art is a large part of our curriculum we use many types of materials such as clay, wood, buttons, string macaroni and many types of natural materials.

Our academic curriculum consists of a letter of the week program in all classrooms.  The 2 year old program is art, visually and language based with game like activities daily at circle time.  The 3  year old program has all the aforementioned as well as adding a manuscript writing component to the curriculum. Then in our Pre-K program the  Zoo Phonics Program which is used in California schools and has shown great results is incorporated. The program fully involves the child's eyes, ears, mouth and body as they learn phonemic awareness, the alphabet and how to decode (read) and encode (spell/write). The Zoo Phonics program is a fun and exciting program that the children really enjoy.  Our Pre-K staff have been to multiple Zoo-Phonics training seminars.
